Scholarship Contest

posted Aug 31, 2018, 11:13 AM by Kathy Braddock

Focused on the First Amendment, many students write about speech and religion, but in an era where Freedom of the Press is consistently under attack, they would like to see more students writing about how the First Amendment protects their speech as student journalists.

With four first place scholarships of $5,000, as well as $1,000 prizes for 2nd place and the teacher with the most entries, this contest provides free curriculum and the perfect opportunity to encourage students to think about how these freedoms affect their daily lives. Students grades 6th – 11th can apply (either individually or as an organized project coordinated by their teacher or club moderator). More info, as well as some examples of past winners can be found at chicago.adl.org/fivefreedoms
